Short story #2 sperm whales and tennage poker games

Short Story #2 Part 1
#1
In the story, A Presentation of Whales. There were 41 sperm whales that banked upon the central Oregon beach. After a man and women, spotted these magnificent creatures, they contacted the police. The police came right away and contacted the local radio and televisions. From there, they broadcasted it through the whole town and coast range. In a matter of minutes the whole town was they’re, and more to coming every minute that passed.
At first glance they thought they were gray whales, common along the coast, but then they figured it out. These animals were massive, 40-60 feet long, sperm whales. By midnight the beaches were packed, there were federal officers everywhere telling the regular deputies to keep the people back. There where flashlights lighting up the dark and depressing night, drunks walking on the whale’s backs and giggling while they go. Obviously the situation had gotten out of control, and all along there were 41 one dying sperm whales laying on the beach terrified, and soon to take there last breaths.
The scientists from Greenpeace were there, a international organization with a special interest in protecting marine mammals. Neal Langbehn, a federal protection officer from the national marine fisheries service, he denied one of the scientist to start pulling teeth and taking blood samples while they were still alive.
I think he was totally right to, I mean that would be just like torturing a human being, and I see no difference between human or mammal life. There was a rank and acrid smell in the air, and the first rumor of disease was going around.
From the beginning there was a foreboding fear, for the whales. The scientist new they had to do something and they had to do quickly. Just before dawn a second group of Greenpeace volunteers showed up to help. So as the sun started to peak over the mirroring like waves, they decided to tie a rope around the fluke of the whales. Although they new that with just one pull of the rope it could tear a large chunk in there skin, they had to give a chance. So about 50 men grabbed a hold of the rope and tugged as hard as they could. Unfortunately it did not work, and further intensified the whale’s pain. Bruce Mate who was both scientific and the press coordinator, called Coo’s Bay and asked if any ocean bound vessels could come and help give one of these creatures a tug, but no one was interested. If you ask me it didn’t sound like they were any good hearted, caring people down there, and I my self would hate o get injured down there.
After all hope was gone the scientist gave up and went home in a puddle of tears. Over the next six days the scientist drew blood, and took many other samples, thousands of people came to see the dead carcasses. Sunday the scientist drew there last samples, and on Wednesday afternoon the whales were burned to the ground, and a mammoth dump trunk came and to the rest of the ash and bones away forever.

In this story I think the author is trying to explain how he loves the environment, and agriculture. My opinion is that he is trying to reach people who really don’t care about this particular subject and he gets them interested. The way he expresses himself can just garb you and get you interested. Then, once he grabs you he can tell the story, and have another interested person who didn’t care about this subject before and now loves it.
I myself am an animal lover, but I did not know that much about sperm whales. Not only does he tell you what happens in the story, but he also explains everything you need to know about the sperm whale. For example when he is talking about them trying to pull the whale back into the sea, he also explains how there skin Is like tissue paper, and it will tear off just like that. Hen grabbed my attention right from the get go and I think he will do the same for you.

Part 1. I think it is important to read about other people’s lives, because not only is it interesting but also at the same time you get to learn cool stories and usually good advice for life.
Part 2. I think these stories are so popular because their really interesting, sad, and it helps if the writer is very expressive.
Part 3. Yes well there are a lot of times my life were, it can get very interesting and you can learn what NOT to do.

Short story #2 part #2

Well I think that this whole article was not related to what really happens in Athens. I mean not that many teenagers that I know or know of, that play poker at all. There has never been a poker party that I have been invited to or even played in. On the contraire, there probably are many poker games for teenagers happening out there in the real world, and no doubt there drugs and alcohol involved. Because I think they would try to as the "grownups" do, so that automatically brings in alcohol, and usually at any party thing you do these days there is marijuana there.
My opinion on poker is, I don’t think that poker is exactly a bad game, I just think that the things that you add to it came make it into that. So, on that note, first of all it’s a freaking card game, that little kids can play if they want to. Were the bad part comes in at, is when you put money into the game, and start drinking alcohol with it. Personally, I think the reasons that these got added to the game is to make it more competitive.

When you say that out of all of the teenagers that gamble, 50% are likely to binge drink and 75% are likely to smoke marijuana. Where did you get this information?
Why did you decide to write this article, I mean what inspired you. Did you see a big gambling outbreak?
#3
The main idea of the article is about teenage gambling and how it is affecting teens, and because there parents our totally cool with it because they think its keeping them out of trouble, even when it’s not.
#4
Many parents even approve of their teenagers gambling, mostly boys, gambling sine they think it will keep them from using drugs, drinking, or getting introuble from outside the home.
What these parents may not is that the boys and girls who gambled before age 20as likely to become addicted to gambling as those who didn’t, and of teenage gamblers, 50% are likely to binge drink, and 75% are likely to smoke marijuana.
3. Scott Magerer, a father of a 13-year-old boy, has no
problem with staging poker parties for kids. "You can't stop
them, right? Time-outs don't exactly work. At least this is a
controlled environment," he said.
